"The Possibility of Evil" and "The Lottery"

"The Possibility of Evil" and "The Lottery". Both short stories are written by Shirley Jackson

"The Possibility of Evil" is about an old woman named Adela Strangeworth. In the story there is an old lady that is responsible of writing anonymous letters to the people in town. If we compare these story with the social media, in this case, Facebook. Why, well one of the reasons is because people write what they think to other people regarding the cause even if they are insulting people or not, but the only difference of these posts and the letters are, that the letters are anonymous and the post always is going to say who wrote them.

"The Lottery" involves a little town playing an annual lottery and every person in town has to participate in this lottery. At the beginning of the story we think "lottery" is something you are going to use, like a prize to buy what you need in your daily life, or something good for a change, but at the end of this story the person or individual who wins this lottery wins their death. Yes, by death I mean that that person gets stoned (they have rocks thrown at the person) to their death. Now this is very similar to a reality show. Way because people like to won the competition and the prise money but what they don’t realise is that in order to win this prise you have to eliminate you opponents’ and in some point your team mates. Now in the story a woman was the winner of this lottery and as the rules dictate she was sentence to die family friend and the town gust turn their back against her and these happened to people that are in a reality show people turn against one specific individual and their try almost everything to get him/her out of the competition.
