Dear Journal
London,
Friday June 9th, 1602
My name is Maximus Desimus Meridius the lll; I'm 19 years of
age. I am a Knight, my religion is Catholic, and I am well-educated
man, from the private education, where I studied and obtained my degree in
military strategy, and I specialise in search and destroy missions, Yesterday,
the honourable Lord Mayor of London, Robert Lee, invited me to attend one of
Shakespeare's plays-Othello. I decided to accept his invitation because I haven’t
seen any of Shakespeare's plays. and was excited to know what kind of actor was
going to be the lead role in the play. To
dress for the occasion I wore my silk hat with the feather of a bold eagle, and
my extravagant black and silver attire, trimmed with the fur of a wolf and
encrusted with the royal symbol, a gift given to me by her Majesty, Elizabeth
the 1st. Before we headed to the Globe Theatre, the Lord Mayor and I ate a
delicious meal prepared by my servants, consisting of the finest French wine,
and the richest pork in England. Once we arrived at the theatre, we took our seats
in the Lords balcony, the most luxurious seats in the theatre, overlooking the
rest of the audience and stage. (These seats were priced at six pence, which
was irrelevant compared to my annual income of three thousand pounds.) Looking
around, I realized that we were the most exalted nobility in the theatre, and I
was filled with pride, I would hate to live like those poor, dirty peasants who
stood in front of the stage the entire duration of the play. Throughout the
play the Lord Mayor and some of the other nobles shared the latest gossip of
the queen's supposed affairs with, multiple members of her court. My other
friends and acquaintances had gone to see the annual Black friar’s Jousting
tournament, which I had such desire to see, as I view the sport as a way to test
your abilities on the field. After the play, Sir Brian and I were greeted by a
carriage who took us to the grand ball that was taking place at the Duke of
Cambridge's manor. A late night of wild dancing, drinking and feasting
followed, and it was nearly midnight by the time I arrived back at the castle.
I ended the night playing my favorite instrument throw the balcony as my mother
used to play to my when I was a child.
